当我看到全世界的中文网站都在报道说“全球语言监测机构2005年美国流行语排行榜中排名第六的是法文词“重复”(recaille)”时，我就有些疑惑不解了，法语里面的“重复”不是répéter(动词)/répétition(名词)么？怎么会是recaille呢？一查字典，发现果然有误，而且意思相差十万八千里。法语里面其实没有recaille一词，应该是racaille之误，意即“社会渣滓”。除了传统字典和在线翻译以外，我还用Google进行了验证，它也提醒说应该是racaille。

埋没日久的Racaille能于2005年重现江湖且风靡全球，应该说法国内政部长Nicolas Sarkozy(撒尻子)功不可没。这位撒尻子部长2005年10月25日晚上的一句"Vous en avez assez de cette bande de racaille? Eh bien, on va vous en débarrasser"(你们受够了这群社会渣滓吗？好，让我们为你们清除掉他们)，就像投下了一颗原子弹，把原本已经动荡不安的巴黎更是炸得四面开花，上至政府官员，下直贩夫走卒，无不为之哗然侧目。蘑菇云在向上飘荡的同时，爆炸余波亦向全世界扩散，终于使得Racaille得以排名第六。

只是不知在撒尻子之后，哪位记者竟然把这么经典的一个单词翻译成了无生趣的“重复”，而且从新华网、人民网、文汇网、新浪网以及到海外华文网站，无一不在“重复”错误、以讹传讹。这在我心里，也像被扔了一颗炸弹一样。

本人虽然英语学得勉强，但经查字典，至少可以得知scum、rabble、rioter分别是“渣滓”、“乌合之众”以及“聚众闹事者”的意思，正好符合法语里面“Racaille”之词的原义，哪里有半点“重复”之意？翻译此新闻的“撒尻子”，就算不懂法语，至少也应该略通E文吧？何至于如此麻痹大意、不负责任呢？更让人吃惊的是，上至顶级权威的新闻媒体，下到Racaille般的中文小站，竟然无一人进行核实校对，就更别说纠正错误了。

看来，愚记们捕风捉影、倏忽大众之心态，亦如巴黎骚乱所反映出的沉疴旧疾一样，不是三天两头就能有所纠正的。
