The University of Salford offers a range of scholarships to our best applicants.  In addition, there are some special scholarships for particular courses. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and are awarded for one year. With a history dating back to 1896, the University is located on its own green campus less than 3km from the centre of Manchester. We are a large and successful university, attracting students from more than 130 countries.

We have 18,000 students and over 2,500 are from outside the UK. This makes our campus a dynamic, friendly and cosmopolitan place to be – reflecting the Greater Manchester community to which it belongs.

Our main focus is to provide our graduates with excellent employment prospects by delivering the skills and knowledge that employers require. We respond to the needs of employers by working in consultation with them to develop courses that will help their employees and their business. Over 90% of Salford graduates begin permanent employment in their chosen field or further study within 6 months of graduation.

We are currently investing over £130 million in buildings and campus facilities. This includes a £60 million Art and Media building, a £10 million Law School, and a recently completed £22 million Health and Social Care building.

We have links with partner institutions all over the world and many courses are offered in collaboration with other universities. International students at Salford can spend time at a university in Europe or the USA as part of their studies if they want.

The University has a global reputation for the quality of its research. Our research has been recognised as being of national and international importance in government assessments, and the University of Salford is in the top third of UK institutions for research.

The University of Salford has been visiting China for over 10 years and has developed strong links in the country, particularly in the Sichuan area. For example, we are proud of our partnership agreement with Sichuan Business Vocational College and are working together for mutual benefit in the area of developing our courses and the progression of diploma holder students. We are actively negotiating with a number of local institutions to increase the progression routes for Chinese students wishing to study at Salford. The University aims to develop networks and partnerships to enhance its reputation in teaching, research and academic enterprise
The University, in partnership with Salford City Council, has a  presence in Chengdu within the China Britain Business Council Launchpad scheme which provides the facilities and a member of staff working exclusively for the University of Salford and Salford City Council in Chengdu.

There are currently approximately 500 Chinese students registered at the University of Salford studying on courses as diverse as Prosthetics and Orthotics; Teaching English as a Foreign Language; Business Administration; Aerospace Engineering etc.
